Dear Mom,
Finding out that you were pregnant was probably really hard to take in because you were only sixteen. It was was something you didn’t want but made an ultimate decision which led to something that changed your life forever. You moved away, gave up your passion for dancing, and finished school a different way. You married someone who you had only known for a couple of months . If you had only said no, your life could have been different. You could have experienced high school with your friends not in a finishing school, you could have furthered your career in dance.
Getting pregnant got you shamed upon, kept you away from many but I have never met someone so strong minded. Abortion could have been an option for you since women have the right to choose. But you didn't and you decided that you could prove everyone wrong and get through school, have a baby, and get a job. And according to Roe vs Wade under the fourteenth amendment you have the right to an abortion, so it was your decision.
And that decision was all in your hands. I'm grateful that you are so strong-minded now and even then because If you weren't you wouldn't be as successful as you are now. Im not saying that it was a good decision to get pregnant at sixteen but I'm just glad that you said that abortion was never the answer.
In my opinion you made the best decision. You proved that you can be successful and your life isn't over if you get pregnant at a young age. Im also glad that you had such a supportive family who was there for you and helped you succeed to be the amazing woman you are now.
I can only tell you that I am very proud to be your daughter.
Sincerely,
Isabel
